About Us

The Faculty Association at McAllen (FAM) aims to maximize faculty and student achievements through offering opportunities for discussion, professional learning communities, and networking across departments and colleges that build a friendly environment at our remote location. 

The mission of FAM is to elevate the Higher Education Center at McAllen by supporting and encouraging collaboration, connection, and inclusion across diverse intercultural and interdepartmental faculty to serve the Rio Grande Valley community.

FAM upholds the ideals of respect, honesty, fairness, and integrity, supporting our professions actively, encouraging innovation, and pledging to always enhance our educational abilities and the caliber of our services to our students and the community.

Founded in December 2022, FAM was established by faculty who recognized the need to improve communication across two sites. Our goal was to promote and support the development of multidisciplinary programs that serve an underserved demographic and underrepresented community.
